A Perfect Fit

South Carolina’s Child Early Reading Development and Education Program (CERDEP) program is designed to expand full-day 4-year-old kindergarten program. Your child needs to be 4 year old by September 1st , reside in an eligible school district and qualify for free- or reduced-price school lunches or Medicaid.

Newberry CDC meets the highest quality state child care standard surpassing the following requirements:

  • High standards for teacher education and certification

  • Enhanced teaching and learning activities all day

  • Individualized learning based on children's abilities

  • Expanded health and safety policies

  • Family involvement opportunities

  • Active engagement between teachers and children

  • A well equipped, organized setting with multiple learning centers

  • A mix of indoor and outdoor learning environments

We maintain the very low teacher to child ratios and class sizes for Levels A+ Center:

  • Most of our lead teachers have at least a Certificate in Early Care & Education; all must have the SC Early Childhood Credential. Our Directors have An Associate degree in Early Care & Education and a Bachelors Degree in Psychology.

  • Our Teachers and directors receive 20 hours of specialized training every year to help them plan curriculum and activities to support every child's development and to prepare them for kindergarten.

  • We Meet national quality standards through regular rigorous on-site reviews by trained ABC assessors

  • A posted schedule of regular meals, naps, and active play
